Phenomena: Wentworth Masters Celebration 2010: Part 2

Event planned for 400 plus Master of Architecture graduates, faculty, and architectural professions to exhibit the work of Wentworth Architecture Students. We aimed to showcase the work of the graduates from the Master of Architecture Program. The showcase was designed to emulate a New York City style art gallery.

Phenomena: Wentworth Masters Celebration 2010

Event planned for 400 plus Master of Architecture graduates, faculty, and architectural professions to exhibit the work of Wentworth Architecture Students.  We aimed to showcase the work of the graduates from the Master of Architecture Program.  The showcase was designed to emulate a New York City style art gallery.  The showcase remained on display until the next semester began to inspire and motivate the underclassmen still in school to strive to create high quality work.  The Celebration became yet another event to designed to create culture and tradition at Wentworth.

Under the overall direction of Professor and Architect Elizabeth Gibb Jillian Infurchia and myself designed and coordinated the spatial layout, posters, signage, and videography of the event.

Phenomena: Arch Vanguard Gala

The Master of Architecture class of 2010 wanted to instill new traditions  at our school.  I was in charge, with a team of 2 others to design, coordinate, and create the Arch Vanguard Gala for 90+ individuals.  The design our team decided would envoke ideas of change, innovation, and a reflection to the past.  

We designed the atmosphere to be reminiscent of the avant-garde era of architecture because of the new and unusual methods and ideas the designers used and developed.

Thesis: Wentworth Celebration Poster

Thesis: Final Crit

Thesis Statement: Landmarks and historic sites throughout the city have become cliche’ and kitschy, overlooked and then delegated to the realm of tourism. The people, who work and live in the city, are in turn, disassociated from these spaces because they do not engage these sites in their everyday activities. By focusing on one of these detached environments, this thesis will respond to issues of memory, perception, and the potential for the human activity of local cultures to inspire new and vibrant relationships within these neglected spaces of the city. A series of interventions will be developed that link and connect the tourist aspect of these environments with the everyday activities of the city’s inhabitants. The existing infrastructure that links these zones will also be redeveloped, rethought, and modernized. These associations will demonstrate how memory and the sense of place can provide the city’s inhabitants with a strong connection to the site.

Our Master Studio space is really cramped. We moved to our student resource room.

5 Master students... 8 hours on a Friday night.......(6pm to 2am)

We have begun recording our activies every day now.... they will be complied into a video at the end of "death week". This is just a test video... a little fast at the moment, we will splice together the fun parts once we have time, for now...enjoy...

Homeless Halfway House/ Shelter With Integrated Community Learning Kitchen, Support Faclities, and Restaurant Hall

This plan has been changed since my pin up on Thursday.  The overall idea of the plan is beginning to work, the sections that work with this plan are not what I want the architecture to look like at all.  The form is beginning to draw the city into the space, while directing the eye and user towards the history located on the site.
