I apologize, I have not been keeping up with my blog!! The figure ground was created by analyzing the building's use [each color represents a different function ie: commercial, public, multifamily residential, private residential, etc.]. The blob formation is actual walking times from one location on the Freedom Trail. The distances were actually calculated via google earth, and actually walking the site with a stop watch. This helped me take into account the steep topography of this area in Boston. I hope this helps [although it is 8 months late.....]
This is really impressive! I am an architecture student working on a project in this area. I would love to use this map to work off of if you would allow. I'm not sure what you used to make it, I would guess illustrator but any file type you would be willing to send me I would greatly appreciate. My email is jakorby@iastate.edu if you would be willing.
Thank you very much! Your comments really brightened my week!
ReplyDeleteIm new to architecture, could you tell me how you did this please? I've been looking for a better way to illustrate figure ground
